Contact the Major — Tell Him About Our Plight: Save Our Homes

Here's something each of us can do right from our homes. Pick up your phone, sit down with a pen and pad, or turn on your computer, and send a message to Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg. Tell him you support his stated goal of preserving and providing more affordable housing, and the best way to do it right now is to prevent a buyout of Independence Plaza North.

A buyout will remove IPN from the Mitchell-Lama program and force our rents to reach "market" rate. That means astronomical increases. That really means good bye to IPN and Tribeca as our home, good bye to a mixed-income, ethnically diverse, family-oriented community.

Tell him about your home at IPN, about your family, about how important it is for you to stay in the community you love. Tell him that it’s cheaper to save existing affordable housing than to build new housing.

The more of us who contact him with the same simple message, the more aware he is of IPNTA as a serious voting bloc. That's what makes politicians move.

Contact him today. Use any one of these methods:

  • E-Mail: http://nyc.gov/html/mail/html/mayor.html. This takes you directly to a screen to send e-mails to him.
  • Telephone: (212) 788-9600 between 9 am and 5 pm weekdays. You will hear a recording. Press Option 0. That will put you in touch with an operator. Speak to her about our plight. She will either take a message, or connect you with some official. If the latter, speak to the official about our plight.
  • Regular mail:  Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, City Hall, New York, NY 10007
  • FAX: (212) 788-2460
